Britney Spears To Perform At 2007 MTV Video Music Awards; Pop Singer Scheduled To Open The Show

Now that Britney Spears has released her new single Gimme More to radio stations last week, the buzz is that the pop star will open the MTV VMA's on Sunday night in Las Vegas with a performance of the song from her upcoming album.

Spears' last memorable performance at the annual awards show was in 2003 alongside former rival Christina Aguilera and mega superstar Madonna.

Reportedly, Britney will integrate an illusion by her alleged new beau magician Criss Angel into her opening act.

Rapper/mega producer Timbaland has voiced his skepticism about Spears performing at all. Timbaland is the Musical Director of this year's awards show on MTV.
